Jurgen Klopp’s side now sit two points clear of the Gunners and three ahead of Man City.

It was Mikel Arteta’s men who started the better team, however, City quickly gained control and dominated the first half.

Nathan Ake had their best chance with a header from close range before the defender was forced off with an injury soon after.

That left Pep Guardiola with a makeshift back four as his squad’s injury troubles continued.

Arsenal would then see a great chance go begging early in the second half as Gabriel Jesus slid inches away from Bukayo Saka’s low cross into the box.

The Gunners would struggle to create after that though, and it was City who pushed on.

Erling Haaland missed what seemed to be a tap-in late on by somehow missing the ball completely from four yards out.

Neither side could find that crucial goal and in the end, it will have been Liverpool fans celebrating as they take the advantage in the title race.

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Man City manager Pep Guardiola has reacted to the 0-0 draw.

"Tough game," Guardiola told BBC MOTD: "Quite similar game to the last ones, take the point and onto the next.

"They make a really good pressing. They are a master of that.

"It is what it is. In the end we tried. They have really top players in defence, defending perfectly compact. Low block. We tried."

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Bukayo Saka hobbled off late on in the game, raising some concerns over a possible injury.

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has described his side's performances as 'exceptional' post-game.

Explaining why, Arteta told Sky Sports: "The commitment from the players, the discipline that they had in the defensive parts when we were really high up the pitch, we won the ball quite a few times.

"Then when they break the press, we tracked back and stayed deep.

"When they tried to move the structure we did really well to defend the box. We did really well.

"2021 was the last time they did not score at home, three years, so that says how difficult it is."

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Bernardo Silva has been speaking about the title race following Man City's draw with Arsenal.

He told Sky Sports: "Last April they went man to man for the whole game and when you do that is a bit of a 50/50.

"Today it was a different [Arsenal] team, more experience. They have young players that are now one year more experienced.

"They felt what it was to play here last season and today they were much better."

"A lot can happen. Now we don't depend on ourselves, we depend on Liverpool and Arsenal now because we don't play against them again.

"So we need them to drop points as well as do our job and win our own games."

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Manchester City have drawn seven Premier League games this season, their most in a campaign since 2016-17 (9).

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Mikel Arteta has given his thoughts on Arsenal's 0-0 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad.

"A really competitive match as you can imagine," Arteta told BBC MOTD. "We made another big step today.

"They have the capacity to change formations to get you in deep in many moments. They are very physical but I think we coped with that very well.

"I think we had the best situations. We were really aggressive at times and getting the ball into great areas. The way we competed individually and as a team was phenomenal.

"Individually you have to be at your best. I think it is 2021 since they hadn't scored a goal here at the Etihad.

"It was a really tough test for us today. We wanted to win but when you cannot win you must not lose."
