Consecutive defeats to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Aston Villa in the Premier League might have derailed their season in the last week.

So when Trossard opened the scoring for the Gunners at Molineux, there was an explosion of emotions from around the world.

And that even included midway through an interview while promoting her new movie 'The Idea of You'.

While speaking to Interview Magazine, her co-star Nicholas Galitzine was keeping one eye on the score and alerted the actress after the Belgian broke the deadlock.

Hathaway responded by clenching both fists, roaring in celebration and shouting: "I love you!"

The interviewer looked somewhat stunned and Hathaway explained her love of Arsenal.

“Sorry, we’re both fans of the same team and there’s a match going on right now,” she said.

“During our last interview, we scored a goal. We’ve had a rough week."

It is an allegiance not many knew about but one Arsenal fans have been happy to learn.

One fan responded on social media: "Think I'm gonna have to watch Princess Diaries now."

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Didi Hamann is not convinced that David Raya, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice have improved Arsenal this season

Another wrote: "Now I have no choice but to go watch whatever movie they are promoting, cause Arsenal fans stick together!!!!"

And a third said: "She's a proper supporter. Her squeal of delight at hearing Trossard scored and her knowing what a tough week Arsenal had are dead giveaways. She's my number 1 'A' lister."

A fourth posted: "I am not even an Arsenal fan, but Anne Hathaway turning out to be a dedicated Arsenal fan is one of the more delightful developments of 2024."

Arsenal went on to beat Wolves 2-0 with Martin Odegaard netting at the death to confirm all three points.

Hathaway might be cheering or crying by the end of Tuesday night with Arsenal set to host Chelsea in the Premier League.

The Gunners are currently top of the table on goal difference but know they cannot afford many more slip-ups after losing to Villa last week.

Manchester City are a point behind but have a game in hand while Arsenal must prevail in consecutive London derbies with Chelsea up first before facing Tottenham at the weekend.
