Leeds United have joined the race for Liverpool star

Leeds United have entered the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria on loan for the season, according to journalist, Courtney Friday.

It is also thought that Reading remain the favourites to land his signature, but Leeds’ interest will surely be of note to the 21-year-old.

Ejaria joined Reading on loan in January 2019 after spending the first half of the season at Rangers, who are managed by former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard. The midfielder played over 40 games last season, scoring thrice and assisting thrice.

After an impressive start to his career at Rangers, Ejaria couldn’t maintain the consistency which led to a drab end to his loan spell.

The English midfielder joined Liverpool in 2014 after coming through the ranks at Arsenal.

Ejaria penned a long-term deal with the Reds last year, and it looks like he may have to make a decision in the coming weeks on his future for the 2019/20 season.

The Championship side have been rumoured to be interested in Wolves pair of Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa, while other wingers like Ryan Kent and Brandon Barker have also attracted interest.

Leeds could be a tempting offer for Ejaria though, with the Whites likely to be challenging for promotion into the Premier League once again.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side narrowly missed out on promotion last season, after they were beaten by Derby County in their play-off semi-final.

The Leeds boss is seemingly trying to conduct his transfer business early into the window, with Helder Costa also being linked with a move to Elland Road (according to the Yorkshire Evening Post).
