Middlesbrough ‘target’ speaks out on continued transfer speculation

Doncaster Rovers’ loaned in youngster Cameron John has said he is taking no notice of transfer speculation after a number of Premier League and Championship sides were credited with interest in him.

Earlier this season, we covered reports here on The72 claiming that Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Leicester City were both taking an interest in Wolves youngster Cameron John, who is currently out on loan with League One side Doncaster Rovers.

Championship outfit Middlesbrough have also been linked with a move for John in the January transfer window, but the youngster has insisted that he is taking no notice of the reported interest in his services.

Speaking to the Doncaster Free Press, John said that he is remaining focused on the task at hand with Doncaster Rovers amid the continued speculation. The 20-year-old said:

“I don’t take any notice. Personally, that’s nothing for me to get involved with. I’m just here to play football at the end of the day so I can’t be worrying about outside noise. I’ve just got to focus on my performances on the pitch.

“I’ve heard about it, people have told me, and it’s nice to hear. But in the present I’m here to play games, to play football and hopefully I just keep performing well. Whatever happens in January or in the summer, that’s what happens. But I’m here for the season so I’m just looking forward to that and hopefully just doing well here.”

John joined Doncaster Rovers on loan in the summer transfer window in a season-long loan deal and has impressed at the Keepmoat Stadium. He has played across the backline for Darren Moore’s side but his involvement has been limited over the past few months due to injury. John made his return to action at the weekend, starting in the 1-1 draw with MK Dons on Saturday afternoon.
