Nottingham Forest loan man could see City Ground spell cut short

According to a report from Spanish news outlet El Periodico de Aragorn, Nottingham Forest’s loaned in striker Rafa Mir could return to parent club Wolves in the January transfer window ahead of a return to his home country Spain.

Nottingham Forest signed Spanish forward Rafa Mir on loan from Premier League side Wolves in the summer transfer window, with the initial deal set to run until the end of the season. Now, however, reports in Spain have claimed that may not be the case.

El Periodico de Aragorn (as cited by HITC Sport) has said that Mir could have his loan stint with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground cut short in the January transfer window, with a move back to his home country Spain possible.

Since joining Wolves in 2017 from Spanish giants Valencia, Mir has been unable to make an impact at either Wolves or out on loan with Nottingham Forest. In his four appearances for Wolves’ senior team, he has been unable to find the net and he is yet to score for Forest after 13 appearances, providing two assists. His loan spell with Spanish club UD Las Palmas fared better, netting seven and laying on one assist in 30 appearances for the club.

Spanish Segunda Division side Real Zaragoza are said to be interested in signing Mir in the January transfer window. They were initially planning on swooping for Atletico Madrid man Dario Poveda but after he suffered an injury, Mir is the man on their shortlist.
